Companies warned over Bahrainisation


Employers who fail to adhere to Bahrainisation quotas will be fined or have work permits cancelled, a top official warned. The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has accused employers of consistently abusing the Bahrainisation Law, which states that a Bahraini has to be hired for every four foreign workers. Amnesty jobs joy for 16,000

Labour cooperation with Indonesia discussed


Chief Executive of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) Ausamah Abdullah Al Absi discussed recently with an official Indonesian delegation a draft agreement on comprehensive cooperation between LMRA and the National Board for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Overseas Workers in the labour field. New payment method hailed

A new electronic payment method being made available to Bahrain’s employers from next year has been welcomed by workers’ rights activists. Introduced by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in collaboration with MasterCard International and Bahrain’s Payment International Enterprise, the new payment method will be rolled out from April (2015) and gives employers the option of transferring salaries to their expatriate employees electronically.
