Dead body of an Asian worker stuffed into a travel bag was found dumped in a garbage bin early morning yesterday from Naim area. The body of Taher Antaz, 31, was spotted first by a cleaning employee, near Bin Khalaf Mosque inside Manama, who then notified people in the locale and the police. (more…)

Many workers in the Kingdom refrain from registering their mobile numbers owing to fears that, with their numbers on the LMRA’s database, they could be easily tracked down and monitored. (more…)

Apart from Indian Embassy officials, I would request the Ministry of Labour and LMRA to come forward to help the person, enabling him to leave the kingdom since he has not seen his family for six years. EXPATRIATES working at mosques find themselves trapped in Bahrain because no one is paying for their visas, it has emerged.

They tend to stay in the country after their visas are expired because they fear losing their jobs if they return to their countries for new ones to be issued.

Paying my way

I would like to ask the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and the Labour Ministry for their advice on the following matter. I am an expatriate worker and I have resigned from my current employer. According to the contract, they are liable to deduct the visa, CPR and air ticket expenditure from me for employment in Bahrain.

This expenditure, according to my knowledge through some very reliable sources, is BD250 to BD300, since I did not come through any recruitment consultant. Nevertheless, the management is claiming BD600-BD700.
