A CLEARING agent who forged a previous client’s signature to illegally acquire a visa was jailed for three years yesterday.

The High Criminal Court convicted the 45-year-old Bahraini man of fraud and forgery.

AN investigation has been launched in India over allegations that a travel agency has tried to con almost 500 people out of money by advertising fake jobs in Bahrain. The GDN had reported earlier that the firm planned to collect recruitment and visa fees from 492 Indian workers by promising them jobs that didn’t exist.

Visa fraud employer is cleared

A BUSINESSMAN, who was earlier convicted of hiring an expatriate worker illegally, was declared innocent by the High Criminal Appeals Court. The Bahraini man, 56, was fined BD500 by the Lower Criminal Court for illegally hiring the Indian man.
