After two months of agony and uncertainty, two Indian workers left for their homes in India, thanks to the timely efforts by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA). The LMRA helped Dipu Dev and Mustafa Mohammed secure their ‘eligible’ air tickets from the sponsor. The workers flew back to India (Trivandrum) last night. (more…)
AUTHORITIES are urging expatriates in Bahrain to update their contact details to receive the latest information on their legal status.
The Labour Market Regulatory Authority has posted an alert on its official website, www.lmra.bh, advising residents to submit their mobile phone numbers so they could receive text messages about the expiration status of their passports and residence permits, among other notifications.
“We have looked into the contact details in our system and found that many contact numbers/e-mail addresses are not correct,” it said on its website.

MIGRANT workers will soon receive a complete guide compiled in their native languages on Bahrain’s labour laws and regulations in a bid to prevent exploitation. The multilingual employee guide will also create awareness among labourers coming to Bahrain, who are mostly illiterate. (more…)
