A Filipino worker has been repatriated after overstaying his Bahrain work visa by nine years.The man was allowed to leave without paying huge immigration penalties and serving any time in prison thanks to the government’s Easy Exit scheme. (more…)
AROUND 11,000 Bangladeshis are believed to be living in Bahrain illegally, according to official figures. A PUSH to employ more Bahrainis in the agricultural sector was launched yesterday with plans for national quotas and a cap on work visas.The initiative is being spearheaded by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) with the support of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).
