LMRA organises joint inspection campaign in Capital Governorate

Manama, Oct. 1 (BNA): The enforcement sector in the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) organised a wide inspection campaign in the Capital Governorate in cooperation with a number of government entities, which included number of shops, in addition to the inspection of street vendors.

The campaign aimed to ensure compliance with the provisions of the law and the requirements and regulations in force in the Kingdom of Bahrain, during which a number of illegal expatriates were arrested.

Deputy CEO of the Enforcement Sector at Labour Market Regulatory Authority, Dr. Khaled Mohammed Abdulrahman, said that the authority continues to cooperate with other authorities in implementing joint inspection campaigns to reduce the phenomenon of illegal expatriate in the labour market, and violations of municipality, health and residence requirements, to maintain a work environment that enjoys a high degree of competitiveness and stability.

Dr. Khaled Abdulrahman pointed out that the inspection campaign, which was organised today, in cooperation with Ministry of Interior represented by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, and the Police Directorate of Capital Governorate, along with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, and the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, resulting in arresting a group of expatriates for violating laws and regulations in the Kingdom of Bahrain, related to the organisation of the labour market, residence, road occupancy and others.

Dr. Khaled, emphasised that those illegal expatriates who were caught during the inspection campaigns of violating the provisions of the law in the Kingdom of Bahrain will not be eligible for future work permits, and therefore they cannot be turned into regular workers.

Therefore, they are forced to leave the country, and will not be able to return to kingdom of Bahrain.

The Deputy CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority expressed his thanks and gratitude to all concerned parties that contributed to the investigation, monitoring and inspection, stressing that government entities work as one integrated team that seeks to improve the work environment and create an organised labour market that enjoys a high degree of flexibility and efficiency while providing protection for society from any negative phenomena.

He added that in order for the authorities to advance the labour market and combat negative phenomena, they need solidarity and social cooperation from all relevant parties by not dealing with illegal and violating expatriates, calling on the public to report any complaints related to labour market violations and illegal employment by calling LMRA call centre 17506055.

It is worth mentioning that the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, in cooperation with partners in government entities, organises several visits and inspection campaigns on workers of all categories on a weekly basis.
