LMRA: action against an employment agency on charges of trafficking in persons

The Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has taken a series of immediate deterrent measures against an employment agency after committing offenses classified as suspicion of trafficking in persons.

(LMRA) said that as soon as it received information, that one of the employment agencies’ recruitment agency published a promotional advertisement entitled “Win a Domestic Worker”. Immediate measures were taken, including suspending the license of the concerned employment agency.

LMRA CEO, and Head of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons Ausamah Alabsi, directed the concerned departments to take a series of immediate measures, summon the owner of the concerned employment agency, investigate the suspicion of trafficking and take legal and administrative action.

Alabsi stressed that respect for the rights and equality of individuals is an integral part of the community and culture in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which is based on the equality of all human beings regardless of distinctions.

He further assured that LMRA will not hesitate to take necessary measures against any suspicion of trafficking in persons, stressing that these legal measures aim to protect the rights of all workers, especially the household, and reflect the Kingdom’s international obligations to human rights.

      • Hi sir/madam, i dont know who can help me to get my pasport in my old sponsor he already cancel my visa i go selha lmra and i ask for assistance then they told me to go police then i go police they call my old sponsor and he said to the police that he dont have my pasport and he said long time he was give it to me, but i dont have pasport in my hands till now almost 7months and i dont know where to go and who will help me to get my pasport pls help me im waiting for answer thanks so much

          Although this is out of LMRA’s jurisdiction, please note that the laws of Bahrain stipulate that retaining the employee passport is illegal. If the employee demands his passport back and the employer refuses to hand it over (in writing if possible), the employee should first contact his embassy and, secondly, raise an urgent case before the court of urgent matters at the Ministry of justice (diplomatic area).

    I’m a labour came to work as a driver in an electrical contracting company .Pls sir I came in as a driver but my engineer of the company becomes angry whenever he sees me inside my car.He said I should go and stand beside the other labourers until their work is done,and even wants me to work with other labourers.meanwhile mine is driving work.so please I don’t no what to do ,so help me.

I have been working in this company for the 2010, now i am going to leave it, but there is still my visa validity up to june 2018. so, if i resign, my sponsor will take charge of visa of balance months to complete visa period. is there in system of LMRA ‘s rule to take charge? because i am old staff not fresh one. how they can say to pay for balance visa’s money. please let me know LMRA rule. should i pay or no my visa’s charge?

  5. My cuisine left Bahrain in 2013 as his sponcer was unable to pay salary for Months. Employer have raised runaway complaint in LMRA without any proof Even when he left Bahrain in 2013 with the assistance of his employer, still his runaway is appearing in LMRA system and his new employer is unable to process his work visa.. Grievance department is not accepting his request to support and LMRA staff assisting no way out to this situation.
    Simply he don’t have enough visit visa time and there is no suggestion by LMRA except going to court in this short time. Simply he will have to leave Bahrain for No reason and for the runaway which has no proof documents attached nor the old 2013 sponcer availability or contact in Bahrain.
