Notification: Renewing Work Permits Before Expiration

Dear Clients,

LMRA calls on employers to benefit from the possibility of renewing the work permits within 6 months before the expiry date of the work permit, where they will not be allowed to renew the work permit of any foreign worker after three months of the expiration of the work permit issued starting from February 2016.

Note that the above obligation by employers and foreign workers will not result in taking any administrative action against the worker which prevents him from transferring to another employer (new) or leaving the country.

    My visa was cancelled in oct’15 and my new job took time to confirm and the process was prolonged due to offer n budget. now things are confirmed but visa process might take 1 -2 weeks time and if it takes place in 1st week of January, will there be any issue for me and my family.

    1.Company is paying behalf of Employee for Health BD 144 and visa charges, Health insurance is for family also applicable or not i.e in case of dependents, for family health we have to claim from working company.
    2. If any employee changing visa to other company , health insurance is transferable or new company will pay again.. please explain.

      If your employer refuses to accept your resignation or notice, you need to go to the post office and send it as registered mail to the company’s official address (this address must be the same physical address registered at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce .
      Regarding your passport, although this is out of LMRA’s jurisdiction, please note that the laws of Bahrain stipulate that retaining the employee passport is illegal. If the employee demands his passport back and the employer refuses to hand it over (in writing if possible), the employee should first contact his embassy and, secondly, raise an urgent case before the court of urgent matters at the Ministry of justice (diplomatic area).
      If applying for transfer, without the consent of the old (current) employer, the employee needs to have completed at least 12 months of service with the same employer before a new employer can apply for his/ her transfer.

    I’m working in the salon March 2010 same salon and my salary is 140 bd.only she’s giving the food only 5 bd.one month and we are working 12 hrs.she is giving to you for lunch break only 30 mins.without commission, overtime and if the eid is coming she will give you 5 bd.each we are tired no sleeping I follow what she want but this time I want to go Philippines may visa is finished this coming March 2,2016 she don’t want me to she said she cannot find another staff until she found I will travel. I don’t want to work with her she’s giving the salary installment and delay if she’s giving nice salary and treating good for us I will stay with her and you cannot talk to her every time she is shouting.Please LMRA can you advice me I want to go Philippines thank you and may the Allah bless you all

My working visa will be expired this coming 3-march-16, unfortunately the processing for renewing our visa is on hold due to C.R. expiration too and as per our company advice they need to audit for the 2014 till 2016..that is the reason why my visa will not renew until it will be settled,my question is….will the government automatically send us back home? even the process is ongoing? is there any chance to let us stay for 60 days while waiting the visa to be renewed? is there any other option that we can do,except going back home? thank you for your kind response for my queries…

    I have a question one friend of mine just joined a company they provide the visa also she work for around 3 days but due to a bad environment and working place and not happy she decided to resign during the probation periods. She found a new job and submit her resign but the company is refusing to cancel her visa so that the new company can apply. The company is say she have to leave Bahrain. Can you please assist with this situation.

    i got job offer from one of the company from bahrain , bearing work visa no. 8105542 and CPR NO. 920888420 but my work visa status or visa details are not showing in LMRA portal . upon contacting to call center on +973 17506055 they too replied no details found were found with this cpr no. or work visa no.

    even though i mailed to LMRA 3 weeks ago but no reply received from you.

    upon contacting with company HR and manager they replied that they sent me pre-visa and this will be updated only after immigration at bahrain

    please confirm me weather this is a genuine or a fraud one

    i have an employee and his visa will get expire on 03/11/2016 but i cannot renew his visa for another year as he is welling to travel for vacation as i known that we can renew 6 months prior to the expiry date.

  21. My visa is expiring on 12 or next month and now i have checked in the LMRA system the status seems ” Under grace period”. What is the meaning of grace period. As per my understanding after expiry of our WP we will get one month more time to find out a job or leave the country?. Or before one month of WP expiry is it shows in the system?

  24. Dear sirs,
    I’m completing my 2 years contract with the current employer in 75 days. The employer already informed verbally that he is not going to renew my contract and told that he’ll send me home only. I have my child as a dependant who studying here and it is not good for replanting him at the end of the academic year. At the same time another employer offered me a job as well.
    * My notice period is 1 month as per the contract.
    * Employer is holding my passport
    * Employer is not allowing local transfer and he is used to make baseless police cases against employees to prevent their re-entry (it happened before for other employees)
    In these circumstances, how can I make a legitimate transfer? I appreciate your solution

    My employer terminated my contract with immediate effect without any reason on 28th Feb 2017 and has put me on a garden leave of 30 days from 1st march till 30 th march. And had mentioned that I will also be paid for 23 days of April as my contract of two years finishes on 23rd April 2017. They agreed verbally that I will be paid form a march 2017 salary during garden leave, 23days of April, indemnity for two years and one year vacation pay which will be due. I was also provided with a company car since Jan 2016. However they took the keys back on 28th Feb 2017.

    When I went to collect my salary for the month of Feb 2017. I was surprised they had debited BD 300/- against the vehicle which had some scratches etc. however it was a used vehicle which was given to me and they never took my signature on anything except a logbook on which I mentioned that a used vehicle is received.

    I was also told that my vacation pay will be adjusted against the garden leave. I was so much surprised by their this treatment.

    I refused to pay the vehicle damage charges as it was not handed over to me new. But I am worried that they will deduct from my final settlement. I collected my Feb 2017 salary after a lot of arguments.

    I want to know that are they legally allowed to adjust my vacation pay against the garden leave. And how can they deduct any amount for the used vehicle.

    I was given a termination letter on which I had put my comments. I had also sent them few emails in this month but without any response from them.

    Kindly advise. What should I do and how should I take my case forward. also my visa is already showing in grace period.

    My visa has been expired 24 days ago, my company cannot renew it because the CR has been blocked due to pending payments for LMRA. Is there any chance i myself can renew my visa by paying fees? what if i leave the country with expired visa is there any consequences i have to face? if i go back to my country any new employer can issue me visa to work in Bahrain?

  30. The dependent visa of my wife was just cancelled, and I understand that she has a one month legal stay here in Bahrain. Her working visa is ready to be stamped on her passport. The problem is, her passport will take 45 days from now for renewal (for some unexpected reasons of passport expiration) and that means will exceed the one month grace period of her stay.

    I would like to ask if there is a way that she can legally stay after one month until the release of her passport from renewal processes? is there extension for the grace period?

  31. My Visa got expired on 21st April 2017, and it has to be renewed by my company. What is the validity time till the visa can get renewed or there will be absconding if the visa is not renewed after one month of expired date.

My case goes like this… I am employed to him for 4 years and my visa has been finished last May 19, 2017 and I have submitted my resignation letter last week of March, stated in my resignation that I can work until May 31 because I am planning to go back home for good. Unfortunately my mind has changed because someone offer me a job and I accepted it. Therefore I advised our HR that I will just transfer and not going home anymore. To my surprised my employer cancelled my visa April 30 then advised me to work until first week of May.
    I inform my new sponsor about what happened and asked them to prepare my transfer as soon as possible but unfortunately they don’t have available visa and they would transfer me first week on June, and we agree on that.
    First week of June came and I called to asked our HR in my previous company to open me a mobility to do the transfer with my new employer, but my sponsor refuse and he was kind of angry about what I have decided he was telling that he will not allow me to work in other company and he will do everything just to send me back home. He was threatening me that he file a case of run away if I insisted to transfer. My passport is with them.
    My new sponsor is willing to transfer my visa.
    What should i do with my situation I’m kind of worried about what may happen and i might be in jail as what he’s planning.

    My Visit was changed into work visa by my employer through an application in LMRA office which was accepted and the employer was supposed to deposit its requisite Fee in LMRA office within one month period but he did not, Now I want to know my visa status if he does not submit the fee or extend my work visa.
